MS
Word Macros
Warning -
Due to individual settings, these macros may
need tweaking in order to run properly on
your computer. Unfortunately, my time is
limited, so I am only able to give minimal
assistance in helping you resolve a problem.
Repetitive
Word Macro
Tired of hearing your CP screech about you using a certain word too
many times in the last few paragraphs? Here's are two easy macros
you can create in MS Word to help you out. The first macro
highlights all your repetitive words with the yellow highlighter.
You go in an change them. To get rid of the highlights on any
remaining words, you use the second macro. Sure you can use Word's
Find and
Replace feature, but there are two drawbacks to using this feature
of Word.
First
Disadvantage - When working with
the Find tab of the Find/Replace feature,
you have the option to click on Highlight
All Items Found In (this check box is on
the left hand side of the dialogue box under
the words Find What). If you click the
"Highlight All Items Found In box" and do
your search, Word highlights every instance
of the word or phrase you're looking for
with a temporary black highlight.
The moment you modify one instance of
the highlighted words, the temporary highlights on all the other instances
of the word disappear. That means you've got to start all over
again. Too much time, energy and frustration for me!
Second
Disadvantage -
You can definitely
turn on the highlights in the search feature
to mark all those annoying repeated words,
but then you have to go back and manually
remove all the highlights with another
search and replace.
Frankly, I'm too lazy for all of that, and
that's why I created the macro. It really is
sweet, and it's pretty easy to install, even
if you consider yourself less than a
computer geek, which is quite ok. Loving
your PC is not always a healthy thing.
*grin*
Download this easy-to-read set of instructions and give this macro a whirl.
With this macro, simply type your word into a dialogue box and have
every instance highlight for you without losing the highlights if
you modify the document. Then the second part of the macro
will erase those highlights for you.
